Participants may be placed in open positions based upon their English skills at the time of their arrival. 2) This is a waterpark resort with indoor and outdoor pools and an amusement park. Employees will be working inside and outside as lifeguards for the pools and waterslides. To work as a lifeguard you must have very good English and have the swimming skills necessary to become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard (shallow or deep water). Lifeguards monitor pool areas and protect guests participating in water activities. They also learn to administer first aid and CPR (life saving techniques). Shallow water guards work in four feet of water or less and must be able to swim at least 25 yards, although many times they will run and save someone as the water is so shallow, they don't need to swim to the person. While deep water guards must swim 500 yards and must be strong swimmers. You do not have to be a certified lifeguard to apply. Host company will offer certification classes

This position offers the opportunity to work for a pool management company that provides lifeguard services to hotels and community pools in the areas of Washington DC, Maryland and northern Virginia. The pools are located indoors and outdoors. You MUST arrive on one of the following dates: June 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26. As an employee of this company your primary tasks will be to ensure the safety of the patrons and facility you work at, preventing and responding to emergencies, maintain a clean pool area, keep record of pool chemical readings, provide an enjoyable, safe atmosphere for the patrons of the pool. You will also ensure pool rules are being followed through constant patron surveillance. As a lifeguard, you will handle chemicals and will be responsible for cleaning the pool and pool areas, as well as the bathrooms. All employees must be certified in Lifeguard Training, Community First Aid, and CPR for Professional Rescuer. Training will be available upon arrival. Lifeguard training will be 3 days in length and the requirements follow: Must be able to swim 500 meters (un timed) using both freestyle and breaststroke; swim 20 meters and submerge to a depth of 3 meters to pick up a 5kg brick. Then bring the brick back to the surface and swim on your back holding the brick above the water to the starting point. Once this portion of the class is completed, you move onto the remainder of the class, where First Aid, CPR, and Rescue Techniques are taught.
